About Heather Chappell

Heather Chappell brings over 35 years of experience in early childhood education, rooted in a deep belief that children thrive when learning is individualized, meaningful, and connected to their natural surroundings. With a background in play-based learning and Montessori philosophy, Heather has dedicated her life to honoring the whole child—intellectually, emotionally, and socially.

Her approach to education is both professional and deeply personal. Heather herself was homeschooled, an experience that shaped her understanding of curiosity-driven learning and flexible education paths. She later chose to homeschool her own son, further strengthening her commitment to nurturing independence, confidence, and a love of learning tailored to each child.

Based on the Mendocino Coast for the past 30 years, Heather draws daily inspiration from the rhythms of nature, open spaces, and the changing seasons. She believes that the environment is a powerful teacher and that time spent outdoors fosters creativity, resilience, and a sense of calm and belonging.

At the heart of Heather’s work is a strong emphasis on social-emotional development, problem-solving skills, and respectful relationships. She creates learning experiences that encourage children to think critically, navigate challenges with confidence, and develop empathy and self-awareness—skills that support them far beyond the classroom.

Heather’s lifelong dedication to education is guided by a simple yet profound belief: when children are supported as individuals, they flourish.
